Learn Italian in Italy! Your Italian school in Sardinia!

About Us

The Location

No other school in Italy has the beach so close!

The school is located in a small building in via Gallura: 5 minutes walk from the beach and the same from the charming historic center of Alghero.
5 modern, air-conditioned classrooms with free wi-fi, a secretarial office and a comfortable cafeteria corner on the veranda. Here, during the breaks, you can know each other, you can chat, you can plan excursions and see each other out of the classroom and …have a coffee!
And from here, after the lessons, slippers on your feet and beach towel on your shoulders, there are many of you who run to the beach to enjoy the sun of the "Riviera del Corallo"!

Staff

Attentive to your every need

We love our language, we love teaching it and we love taking care of every student. We understand the wishes, expectations and difficulties of those who choose to study during holidays to learn a language abroad.

All of us on the staff will be close to you with advice, proposals and attention to make you feel at ease, to make your stay comfortable, and enjoyable and for you to have fun during lessons.

The teachers, are strictly native speakers, graduates, nice and…

They were all born in Italy, they live here, they graduated here. Therefore they know Italian very well, but they can also speak with you in Spanish, English, German and French when needed. They’re extroverts (like good Italians!) and they work to make every hour of class exciting. In short, they are really good but… we prefer that, at the end of the course, you tell us!

Accreditations

A renowned school

We are partners of the association Italian in Italy, of Confcommercio and we are also accredited school for the recognition of the German study leave Bildungsurlaub.

Class schedules

The courses have a weekly duration, from Monday to Friday.
The group lessons of the General Course usually take place in the morning, from 9:15 AM to 12:55 PM.
Each morning there are 4 lessons, each of 50 minutes (in a rare situation that the classrooms are occupied in the morning, the lessons will be postponed to the afternoon).
Individual and/or thematic group lessons take place in the afternoon or evening, depending on the type of course you have chosen.
On 15 August (Ferragosto, a public holiday in Italy) the school will be closed.

*** Special and/or exceptional cases ***

With only one student per class, you are entitled to 2 individual lessons per day instead of 4 group lessons.
With two students per class, there will be 3 lessons per day instead of 4.
NB: in these cases, the fact that there are fewer lessons per day is compensated by the advantage for the student of being able to benefit from individual (or two people) lessons.

Entry test and course levels

We divide the students into classes according to their different knowledge of the Italian language: elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate and advanced (defined by our teaching staff on the basis of the teaching parameters adopted by the school).

In order to determine your starting level, we ask each student to answer questions during our entrance assessment test.
We will send you the placement test by email after enrolment in the course and you will send it back to us for correction before your arrival.
If you don’t have time, don’t worry: you’ll be able to take the test here, when you arrive, on Monday morning.

Classes

6-8 students: this is the maximum number of students per class in Italiano in Riviera.
Few students per class has many advantages: more care and time for each student, more opportunities and ease to socialize with teachers and classmates.

Materials and educational project

The Italiano in Riviera‘s courses have 4 educational objectives:

  1. Develop the four basic language skills: spoken language, listening, reading and writing; we pay particular attention to improve and enhance confidence and fluency in the use of spoken Italian.
  2. Stimulate students to understand the correct functioning of the language through real-life situations.
  3. Use of group work and interactions to promote the use of the Italian language.
  4. Increase the students’ communicative skills also through self-study; in particular, through the use of teaching materials and language labs available at school.

We provide each student with teaching material relating to the learning modules carried out during the lessons.
